CAMIGUIN A.K.A. THE ISLAND BORN OF FIRE

Okay, our geography lesson for today is about Camiguin. hehe. Camiguin is an island province of Northern Mindanao of the Philippines dipping along the waters of Bohol Sea. (Want to know more?) It is composed of 5 Barangays namely Mambajao, Catarman, Sagay, Mahinog and Guinsilban which serves as a nest to 7 volcanoes including the famous and active volcano-Mt. Hibok-Hibok. Camiguin I would say is a vacation treat to all the visitors as it has the attractions of nature, waters, history and culture. A very good reason to make a road trip very worthwhile and relaxing since tourist spots are short trips away from each other.

Mt. Hibok-hibok at the background as seen from White Island Sand Park. I'm quite disappointed my abs didn't make it for this trip. lol.

Mt.Timpoong (L) and Mt. Mambajao (R) the highest peaks of the mountain where Mt. Mambajao is partly covered with clouds.

Outrigger Canoes are the means of transportation going to the pristine White Island at the Northern coast of Camiguin. At the background are the presently active Mt. Hibok-hibok and Mt. Vulcan which is responsible for the devastation of portion of the town Catarman. The sunken cemetery is a bold phenomenon mark of the birth of Mt. Vulcan in 1871-1875 that subsided portion of lands.

Canoe operators are ready to fetch the visitors. Last fetching at 6pm.

Intimate Civil Beach Wedding

Just finished dipping from the urchin-less waters. Its hard to go in the island solo, firstly because nobody will take your candid shots (haha) and second you can hardly leave your belongings while you swim.

Sunset Shot.

Paras Beach Resort, perfect place to catch quick access to the White Island.

Paras Beach Resort. Nice stay, cozy rooms, good food (but serving could take you 20-30 minutes of waiting) and free of charge sport amenities (billiards and table tennis).

Double crossed at Sunken Cemetery. One more thing I would love to do with this visit if I had the luxury of time is to dive underwaters into the sunken remains of the cemetery.

Huge Cross built in 1982 to commemorate the sunken cemetery caused by the birth of Mt. Vulcan that lasted from 1871-1875 where portion of lands in the town of Bonbon subsided.

Seashore at Sunken Cemetery

Katibawasn Falls. Situated 5km Southeast of Mambajao and the falls has a height of 76m surrounded by orchids and ferns that covered the rocks.

How can I miss the Johnny Bravo!

Tip of Katibawasan Falls.

Instant view from the Entrance.

Souvenir shop at Katibawasn Falls. Items ranging from 30-250 pesos as of this writing.

Landmark of the Panaad Festival celebrated every holy week where devotees complete the vigil at all 14 stations of the cross. Like most of the others who had only 1 or 2-day visit in Camiguin, has skipped to try trailing the rumored thousand steps (since there is no exact figures given) to the top of the mountain. A Resident said it will take an hour or two to reach the top and so is going back unless you roll over. lol. That explains the disinterest of reaching the top.

Every port report. The newly built waiting area in Port of Benoni.
